SUSAN MILCHMAN

Dissolution Has Sharp Teeth

my body is a wing
of dislocated bones

a revised welt     of want
burning itself out
like a morgue of summer stars

ghosts of things
that used to be     whole

birth a marrowbone
of cloven moons & murky
ocean floors

a dust storm of wounded words
nest in my throat

            promise me
                        just one last thing
