MERIE KIRBY
gilled dream floating in a salty finite sea
cartilage skeleton without teeth – a nascent shark
chattering parakeet in a kitchen sink bathtub
clouded planet seen through a flawed telescope
chemical equation with a solution we hadn’t considered
starry map waiting to be read with a different mythology
little bear rumbling into warrior’s belt
mountain range of emerald meadows and avalanche-prone valleys
atom buzzing as molecules of worry work elliptical orbits
freshly sharpened pencil sketching toward digital layers of dreams
limb of a cocktail tree flowering unexpected possibilities
blue-headed wrasse patiently navigating kelp forests
finely tuned scale measuring invisible weights of joy and disappointment
deep diving roots below prairie grasses bending in the wind
